Tour to Tenby

A party of 37 set off for our tour to Tenby in Pembrokeshire on Friday 15th August. After a rest on Friday evening, the tour got underway in earnest on the Saturday with a visit to Pembroke Dock to play the local club. A strong Heavitree performance resulted in wins on 4 of the 5 rinks and a convincing overall victory.

The following day brought a short drive to the nearby town of Saundersfoot and a match against the local club on one of the fastest outdoor greens any of us had encountered. It took some time for Heavitree to adapt but we did manage 1 win and a draw in the 5 rinks to lose overall by 13 shots.

On Monday we left the beautiful town of Tenby and its sandy beaches behind to travel home, stopping off to play Chepstow. By this time, Heavitree were in good form and won on all 5 rinks and we then enjoyed a lovely buffet provided by the Chepstow club before heading home.

This was an excellent tour organised by Brian Parker and his wife Shirley and our thanks go to them for all the hard work they put in to ensure it ran smoothly.
